Brunei Restaurants: Ah Mit Delicacy
Recently, there's a new restaurant that just opened and serves pretty good Nasi Lemak. Pandan rice with gorgeous spicy sambal and fried chicken. i can say it's one of the better Nasi Lemak out there and I'm happy it's located around Tanjung Bunut area! *note* It has now moved to a more strategic location in Kiulap!
The restaurant belongs to a friend of mine Leslie, whose grandmother was famous for making Nyonya Kuih and Nasi Lemak and he has learned the recipe that was passed down to his aunt.
A write-up from Brunei Times last year with a picture of the famous Ah Mit, Leslie’s grandmother.
Nyonya Kuih and Kelupis ~~
Quite spicy and the rice is more on the softer side ~~
It's still on the soft opening stage - so their menu is very limited ~~ fried noodles and kway teow is on the menu but might take some time ~~ they also have fried curry popiah and prawn fritters so be sure to try those too.
Curry potatoes spring rolls ~~~ yum!
Chinese style prawn fritters ~~
Gotta love the greens ~~~~

KFC Value Treats! Eating on a budget at KFC!
Do you know that you can have a nice meal at KFC on a budget? A quick complete delicious meal for just a mere $2 to $3! Let me intro you some of the cheap eats of KFC!
I went to the Lambak Kiri branch of KFC and was pleasantly surprised to see their second floor! Quite spacious and they even have a kids section!
This daddy was enjoying his KFC meal while watching his little one playing at the kids corner ~~ awww ~~ father son play time ~~~
Pretty spacious to chill with family and friends!
The other side of the 2nd floor of KFC Lambak Kiri Branch ~~
On to the food! Introducing KFC VALUE TREATS! If you haven’t check these out before – the top two are only $2 and the bottom two are $3 each! Let’s have a look shall we?
This is the $2 Salsa Roller ~~ crispy fried boneless chicken strip with vegetables and salsa ~~ good quick and light meal!
The Zinger Slider is a little bro version of your favourite Zinger burger but is perfect if you want it on the side ~~ only $2!
on to the more filling meals ~~ $3 Loaded Potato is actually quite popular! For those who love the KFC whipped potato ~~ this one comes with corn and fried chicken pieces!!!
Would you have a look at that! Mmmmm ~~~ whipped potato with some cheesy sauce and chicken bites!
The other $3 is the Shoyuken Rice Bowl ~~~
To be honest ~~ when I see Shoyuken ~ this is the first thing that came to my mind! HAHAHAHA!
This is really a meal that suits my taste – it has what I like ~~ fragrant rice, fried chicken bites, cucumber and tomatoes ~~ with a lovely teriyaki sauce! To be honest – it’s cheaper than a plate of Hainanese Chicken Rice ~ LOL
I like to just pour it out and enjoy on the plate ~~ so worth it la ~~ $3 for a rice meal! (Taken using my phone) . Taste wise – the teriyaki sauce goes so well with the fragrant rice with the vegetables which adds good textural contrast to the meal. Considering that most rice and chicken dishes in the food court costs $4.50 to $6 – this is a bargain!
Besides the Value Deals ~~ KFC also has their JIMAT Boxes (Value Saving Boxes) ranging from $4.50 to $7.50. This set is only $4.50 – Kentucky Fried Chicken, A Salsa Roller, KFC signature fries and drink!
Love Zinger? Here’s a good set for you to consider ~~
This set is $7.50 – you get Zinger with crispy fries and fried chicken and a drink ~~~ can share this meal with your friend or have them all for yourself! HAHAHAHA
Good Value for $7.50!
Ahhh ~~ refreshing Sjora mango peach juice to wash all that down ~~~
For dessert ~~ We had KFC Salted Caramelicious Vanilla Ice Cream! *DROOLS* It’ more to the sweeter side but I really like the nuts in this ~~~ easily can finish this for myself!
Brunei's Coffee Scene: Roasted Sip Coffee Roasters
When I came back from Melbourne more than ten years ago, I never expected Brunei to grow so much in the coffee scene. Fast forward the time and we now a few coffee roasters in Brunei already! The latest coffee roaster to the scene is Roasted Sip Coffee Roasters! It was indeed a pleasure to be invited to a sneak preview of what to expect from this newkid on the block.
Needless to say - it was pretty fun to check out the different yummy coffee drinks from Roasted Sip. Photo from Zul
We got to check out their roasting room as well ~~ gotta love how gorgeous the coffee roaster looks! *drools*
The man behind Roasted Sip showcases his passion for good quality roasted coffee beans and entertained us for the night.
Gorgeous sexy red coffee machine ~~ you are serious with your coffee when you invest so much on your machines! La Marzocco! Ooooh la la ~~~
Framed pictures of coffee culture hanging on the brick walls feels like a coffee museum. Quite a lovely ambience
There's quite a good selection of coffees on their menu as well ~~ here's a glimpse of what to expect ~~
A look at their cold drinks ~~ their creamy cold brew or regular cold brew -- with the lovely roasted sip signature iced mocha in the middle ~~ The iced RS mocha comes recommended if you love the lovely aroma of cocoa with your coffee - not too sweet ~~ just right!
or you could have it hot ~~~ I didn't manage to get a good photo of their RS Mocha ~~ but Mary loves this one the most ~~ perfect if you like to mix Milo and Kopi-O -- but this one of course more ATAS and yummier ~~~
The vintage cappucino is also an interesting coffee drink ~~ I had vivid memories of something similar in Taipei ~~ which is kinda like a creme brulee style latte/cappuccino. I'm pleasantly surprised to see this at Roasted Sip!
Flame torching your cappuccino ~~ now that's something you don't see everyday ~~
For those with a sweeth tooth ~~ you must try their Toffee Latte ~~ it is not overly sweet but it does adds a certain pleasant sweetness that goes well with the coffee.
If you like your coffees strong with a little bit of milk for creaminess ~~ grab this Cortado Latte - a double shot of espresso coffee in a smaller glass like this ~~ *packs a punch ~~ and will give you the caffeine boost* Warning -- seriously for the strong coffee lovers ~~~ n00b coffee drinkers please don't embarass yourselves ~~ hahah ~~
The Jelatte is quite the creation as well ~~~ a combo of coffee jelly and iced latte ~~ this jelatte is very refreshing and will be a big hit! Move over Cincau ~~ coffee jelly is more hipster than you ~~~
This one seriously looks like one of those HP/MP potions from your fav RPG games ~~ feeling low on energy? Grab one of these!
You can have drip coffee too ~~ hurray ~~~
Gotta love having coffee with friends ~~~ chilling and catching up ~~
You can also buy a bag of their fresh roasted coffee beans home ~~~ using your own coffee machines, filter coffees or aeropress ~~~
Their main focus is coffee ~ but if you want some food to match with the coffees ~~ there's cakes, croissants and danish pastries ~~
oh my salted yolk croissants ~~~ *DROOLS*
Green tea cakes ~~
Say hi to their baristas ~~~ ready to make your coffee dreams come true ~~ or wake you up from your dreams with their coffee ~~~
Once again ~~ thanks Roasted Sip Coffee Roasters for having us over - and giving me a sleepless night after consuming so many cups of coffee!! I look forward to coming back here and as a coffee lover I'll give my two thumbs up to their coffee! *pic by Zul*
They are pretty easy to find ~~ just right opposite the famous GK Restaurant in Jerudong! They open this Saturday from 9am onwards! Say hello to them for me!
