Brunei Restaurants: Ambuyat Set for $10

Bruneians love Ambuyat - it is one of the cultural heritage food that we can call it unique to our country. Most people would go to Aminah Arif for ambuyat but lately there's a nice place where you can get a simple Ambuyat set that can be shared between 2-3 persons. The best part? It's only $10 per set! The ambuyat is similar to the famous Mentiri Golf Club one but this restaurant is more strategically located while serving a lot of other local favourites! *note: Readers have told me this is another branch of Mentiri Golf Club's famous ambuyat! No wonder the taste is similar*

The restaurant is Babu Selera Restaurant - located at Sg Akar Central. To go in - you can turn towards Sg Akar from the Muara roundabout - then as you go down Sg Akar - take a U Turn and you will see spg 158 - as well as this building - that is Babu Selera Restaurant.

These are their operating hours. Despite the HOT weather - this place was full house during lunch time, and I needed to sit on one of the outside tables!

Babu Selera is actually famous for their Soto, as I noticed lots of people ordering them. Pretty good actually.

Now the main reason we are here - is to enjoy the Ambuyat Set - for $10 - you get Ambuyat with 2 or 3 cacah Tempoyak or Binjai or Mixed, Daging Kedayan (a traditional style beef stew), choice of vegetables, 3 pieces of fish grilled or boiled, vegetables with sambal. You gotta say that's a pretty good bargain if you share it with 2 other friends! In my opinion - I really love the cacah (dip)! Seriously can't get enough of it, I even use it to eat with my Nasi Goreng! Sooo goood!!

Their Nasi Goreng Belutak is pretty good too ~~ the chef really knows his stir fries! A good charred fragrance means more deliciousness!

Besides Ambuyat and Soto, they also serve Indomie goreng with egg that looks really good - I saw it from one of my friends table and was tempted to take the picture!
