Brunei Hidden Jems: Laksa Udang Gala (Big Head Prawns Laksa)

There has been pictures circulating around social media regarding a special place that sells pretty good laksa but with a twist! They have Udang Galah (Big Head Prawn) and also Tiger Prawns Laksa!

Images of a guy sharing pictures of the Udang Galah and Tiger Prawns Laksa went viral and let's face it - we love our laksas but with if you serve it with big head prawns? OMG!

This special stall is actually located at Jalan Jerudong Spg 396-93-167. It is very easy to find. Simpang 396 is the traffic light junction right after the Pertama Supermarket (opposite spg 401). You can easily find this simpang driving in from the new Katok to Jerudong Highway too.

Once you see this stall - you are at the right place!

Gotta love the way they set it up like a trailer park style restaurant ~~

The key selections of their menu ~~~ they actually have $12 versions of the Udang Galah - bigger fatter ones!! *DROOLS*

They also have other local comfort food like Ayam Penyet - Nasi Lemak - and some other local favourites in their menu ~~~

Maxi Ayam Penyet is only $3 and they have Mini Ayam Penyet too ~~ smaller piece of chicken I presume ~

*drools* I actually called the owner to ask if he has any Udang Galah and he said there's a $12 and $8 version - so I ordered both -- he will start cooking the prawns when you arrive so it's freshly cooked!

The $12 on the right and $8 on the left ~~ *drools* I wish I can shoot a picture of the flesh but my hands were dirty from peeling the prawns!

They actually provide you special scissors to make it easier to enjoy these prawns but some people can skilffuly use their teeth or hands ~~

My mum obviously enjoyed her laksa ~~ and I think you will too ~~ a satisfying bonding time food hunting with her ~~ everyday is Mothers day~ HAHAHA

On my facebook - a lot of people commented that they were disappointed because the Udang Galah or Tiger Prawns were finished when they arrived. No problem - before I went - I actually called the owner to check if they have any to avoid disappointment. It might take some time to cook especially the Big Head Prawns and Tiger Prawns so be patient when you make your orders. They are a humble home business afterall.
