Brunei Sungkai 2018: Alter Ego Fusion Ramadan feast for 2!

If you are tired of buffets and you want a place with great ambience, good food and artisan desserts with proper coffee and tea – you should check out the Ramadan Feast for 2 at Alter Ego – one of Brunei’s most beautiful cafes.

Beautiful might actually be an understatement as when you walk into Alter Ego – you really feel like you’ve been transported to another world.

To the hand painted scenic view ~~

It is indeed a lovely place to just bask in the ambience while having a nice cup of tea or coffee ~~ but today we are here to check out their Ramadan Feast for 2!

You will start with Medjool dates ~~ which are plump and delicious ~~ mmmm ~~~

Each person will then get a trio of appetizers ~ Soup of The Day on the right – Chicken vol au vent (baked small hollow case of puff pastry filled with creamy tender chicken) and sun dried tomato on top of cream cheese crostini ~~ mmm ~~~ delicious bite sizes to prepare you for the main sharing platter!

This sharing platter can actually be shared by 3 person in my opinion as it’s a pretty big platter!

Mmmm ~~ what a delicious looking platter ~~

You will have a small basket of pita bread ~~ this is for you to dip with the hummus ~~

Chickpea hummus is a great dip for the flat breads ~~

To be enjoyed with these perfectly chargrilled vegetables ~~~

For carbs ~~ it’s crushed Idaho potatoes with salmon salad ~~~

For proteins ~~ this is the oven baked baby chicken with honey cajun spices ~~ I loved how moist the chicken is and perfectly seasoned. Thumbs up for this!

Last but not least is this double braised beef short ribs with rosemary herbs and pumpkin puree ~ tenderlicious!!!

You will then be served a trio of bite sized desserts ~~~ so both of you will get a taste of all three!

Mmmmm Gula Melaka Cake ~~ *drools*

I can never resist a good blueberry cheesecake!!!

Lastly ~~ if you love Eclairs ~~~ how about some Salted Caramel filled Eclairs to end your meal? *OMG*

You can choose to have coffee or tea to finish your meal ~~ I personally can drink coffee any time of the day ~ lol ~~ Alter Ego is serious about their coffees ~their coffee machine; the Gravimetric Black Eagle can cost more than an entry level car – one of the top of the line Espresso Machines and their coffee grinders are top of the range Mythos grinders too. You will definitely enjoy their coffee.

If you are not a coffee person or worry that you will have trouble sleeping – they have tea range from ETTE – combining heritage with tea ~~ mmmmm ~~~~

The Ramadan Feast is actually $49 for Two person which works out to 24.50 per person but if you use the bank card discounts – you can get up to 30 percent off on certain days! That will make it only $17.15 per person! What a bargain! On other days – you can get up to 15% depending on which bank cards you have when making payment.

Besides their Ramadan Feast for two ~~ we also got to check out their Ramadan Special menu! Check out these rice bowl menu exclusive to the month of Ramadan!

All Rice bowls will come with perfectly poached egg, Daikon radish, Japanese cucumbers, Furikake and Japanese seasoned rice!

This is their salmon aburi rice bowl ~~ torched lightly and topped with delicious mentaiko ~~ soooo delicious!

This is the DISH OF THE DAY for me ~~ their charsiu chicken rice bowl is da bomb! Beautifully caramelized – tender and juicy ~ with just the right amount of sweetness ~~ soooo sooo goood! I wished to have another bowl of this!!

The others seemed to enjoy this dish more ~~~ sous vide beef sirloin slices ~~ tenderliciously good as well ~~~

Now I have to say one of the dishes I ordered the most when I am in Alter Ego is their healthy wholesome grain bowls ~~ basically quinoa with a lovely serving of mixed grilled vegetables ~ then with either roasted chicken or beef steak ~

This is the new grain bowl on the menu ~~ specially launched this month ~~ a moist salmon confit ~~ mmmm ~~ a new selection headache for me next time!
