Miri Food Guide: Hot Cross Buns Bakery
Hot Cross Buns Bakery has been opened in Miri since the early years of 1994 and has been one of the local brand names in Miri when it comes to ordering cakes for special occasions or buying freshly baked bread and buns.
Located at Pelita area, while I checked out this bakery – I noticed quite a crowd – people buying bread and buns, or some coming to collect their cakes. Despite being around for some time facing competition from new franchise bakeries, this local Miri bakery has managed to attract a loyal customer base
The Bakery has quite a big selection and design when it comes to cakes and you can definitely custom make some to match your special occasion!
Definitely keeping up with the times! They have Ipad for you to check out their available designs to help you make your choices ~~
Besides selling cakes – they also sell party accessories so you can grab everything under one roof! Useful if you want to make last minute surprises or plans!
Hot Cross Buns Bakery has quite a huge selection to keep up with the demands of their customers.
Lovely fresh milk loaf is pretty popular ~~
Ahh the classic wholemeal loaf ~~~
To health conscious people who love whole grains ~~ eight grain loaf ~~
They even have hipster loafs like this Chia Seed Loaf! What’s interesting as well is their bamboo charcoal loaf which was sold out by the time I arrived!
Lots of biscuits for you to enjoy ~~ these are bound to be sold out during Hari Raya or Chinese New Year season ~~
What makes Hot Cross Buns unique as well is that they serve quite a number of Asian delicacies such as freshly made Nyonya Kuih and Kek Lapis in the premises ~~ these are very popular ~~
Mmm Kek Lapis ~~
Hurray for Ham Chin Piang! (Five spice roll)
Sesame Seed balls ~~~
They even got ang gu kueh!
It really warms my heart to see these Nyonya kuih ~~~
They even got Bah Zhang and Pulut Panggang!
Their Chai Kueh ~~ glutinous turnip dumplings is their top seller ~~ I’ve seen a lady buy like packs of them!
Their Chicken Curry Puffs and their fried crispy sardine popiah is really good too!
They even sell ACAR! A local style sweet, sour and spicy pickled vegetables that is enjoyed with prawn crackers!

One thing you can say about their pizza buns is that they’re quite generous with their toppings ~~
Speaking of generous ~ I challenge you to find another bakery in Miri that loads up their chicken floss buns with so much chicken floss ~~ they got spicy and non spicy version ~ striking a great balance mayonnaise and soft bun ~~ mmm ~~
Oh and be sure to grab some of their lava cheese tarts! Pretty yummy too!
Unique bun that is made to look like an ice pop! Last one left when I visited ~~ must be pretty popular with the kids!
I’ll have to say these Korean QQ Balls have a very good mochiko texture! Very interesting!
Its pretty much self service at the bakery of course ~~ grab what you like and pay at the counter!
I can also see why they are very popular ~~ their bun sizes are pretty big and prices are quite reasonable!
You can easily buy quite a lot of these and tapao home for your family ~~ so much choice ~ there’s something for everyone!
Mmm ~~~ seriously this blogpost is not enough to put even 70 percent of what they have at the bakery and some were sold out already when I’m here!
There’s a small corner at the bakery if you want to eat the pastries and buns before you tapao ~~ though I notice most people just buy and go ~~ and there’s actually quite a queue when I was going to pay!
So have you paid a visit to Hot Cross Buns recently? You are bound to find something you like with the variety of choices! Drop by Hot Cross Buns Bakery and enjoy their buns!
