Trip of Wonders: The Royal Ambarrukmo Buffet Experience

DSCF7344

I heard good things about The Royal Ambarrukmo as one of the most prestigious hotels in Yogyakarta especially their buffets which allows you to get a good selection of Indonesian cuisine!

As with most top hotels ~~ they serve a good range of salads, yogurts and fruit cocktail jellies ~~

DSCF7219

They also got a vegetables and fruit juice stand to freshly make some fresh juices for ya ~~

DSCF7334

Here’s my tomato and green veggie juices combo ~~

DSCF7268

Nothing screams breakfast bigger than pancakes and waffles ~~~ freshly made ~~~

They even got FRESHLY MADE HAND PULLED NOODLES (LA MIAN)

As well as assorted dim sum ~~

and ~~ sushi ~~

DSCF7212

Their egg station is absolutely fantastic ~ unlike some hotels which give mediocre eggs ~~ the eggs here are done perfectly!

DSCF7323

I give them a big A+ for their omelets ~~~ top notch!

They got lovely assorted pastries and breads too!!

HEY WHERE’S THE INDONESIAN SPECIALTIES ~~ I hear ya scream ~~~ I saved the best for the last ~~ if you want a taste of local flair ~ they serve Yogyakarta’s iconic GUDEG – which is a slow cooked young unripe jack fruit boiled for several hours with palm sugar, and coconut milk. This is usually served with fried or braised chicken as well as other ingredients like…

DSCF7216

~~~ my favourite spice braised beef tendons (soo tenderlicious!)
DSCF7283
A lady who gives you food with such a big smile! Thanks beautiful for the Gudeg!
DSCF7286
Ahhhh I will enjoy this sooo much!! GUDEG GUDEG!!!
DSCF7247
There’ also rojak ~~~ Indonesian style ~~
DSCF7253
This is like the Indonesian salad ~~ served with a spicy rich peanut sauce ~~
DSCF7258
*drools* Now that’s my kinda salad ~~
DSCF7344
There’s also nasi uduk ~ which you can take your pick of beef stew ~~ vegetables and braised chicken ~~ served with wild rice ~~~ yum! Maan~~ where else can you try Nasi Uduk, Nasi Gudeg and Poached eggs on toast with omelets ~~ enjoyed with fresh juices and also ~~ Indonesian Jamu ~~ which I’ll get to that ~~
DSCF7298
Jamu is an Indonesian style herbal tea and there’s quite a range of them ~~
DSCF7296
They say different types of jamu are good for different ailments ~~ so you must give them a shot!
DSCF7302
I had almost 4 glasses of different jamu at the buffet alone! LOL!
DSCF7270
For dessert ~~ they have a CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN~~~~~!
DSCF7221
Good old fashioned bread pudding ~~ ahhh ~~comfort food ~~
DSCF7224
Assorted muffins of the day ~~
Overall I’m very satisfied not only with the buffet but also the facilities The Royal Ambarrukmo has to offer! There are quite a few good articles out there but do take a look at
