#GoTemburong: Glamping activities with Sumbiling Eco Village

20161113_174608

I have to say I haven’t visited Temburong for some time already. I’ve tried flying fox, camping, canopy walk and rafting many many years ago so I was interested to see how much has changed in Temburong when Brunei Tourism Board invited me to a FAM trip to promote Temburong Tourism.

It was cool of our Tourism Board to make use of Social Influencers to promote Temburong along with traditional media. Here you have Marul, Gzul, Maurina and Nuurol – I’ll be posting a bit about their adventures here but for more details please visit their social media and blogs. We all took the boat from the Kianggeh Jetty ~ $6-7 depending on the schedule or boat and it’s a 45 minutes ride. Here’s more information about the packages available for this upcoming December 2016 with links to tour operating websites.

“The Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) recently launched the "Temburong Holiday Destination packages" for 2016 end-of-year promotion! The packages on offer are 3 Days and 2 Nights stay in Temburong District, combining the best of Ulu Temburong National Park, Batang Duri and Bangar town.

Operated by six companies, the packages are of a dynamic combination between the tour operators, offering the full Temburong experience! They are: AZ Back 2 Nature, Borneo Trekker, BorneoGuide.com (Sumbiling Eco Village), Freme Travel (Freme Rainforest Lodge), Trandie Marina,Sunshine Borneo Tours and Travel (Ulu-Ulu Resort Temburong).

“Temburong’s well preserved nature and ecosystem remain as its key selling point as a tourism destination combined with various local ethnicities and cultures; hospitable people; peacefulness; tranquil, clean and traffic free environment which makes Temburong, a well-suited family holiday destination,” MPRT Minister YB Dato Seri Setia Hj Ali Hj Apong”

Both Nurol and I had the opportunity to experience Glamping for the first time – glamourous camping – as you can contrast with the normal camping. This was at Sumbiling Eco Village. Thanks Nurol for the picture.

Leslie and Julia from Borneoguide

“One of our earliest ventures was a rainforest ecotourism development called Sumbiling Eco Village. It was founded as joint-venture between local Iban villagers of Sumbiling Lama in Brunei’s Temburong District.  We providing economic welfare as well as an avenue for them to cultivate a sense of pride and purpose in their tribal heritage which had a strong grounding in natural sustainability and vast knowledge of herbal and natural applications of various plants of the rainforest.  Today, the venture is our flagship operation, and has welcomed many satisfied visitors who have returned home with a greater understanding of natural environment and creatures, and of course memories of a lifetime!”
