Bali Hotels: Montigo Resorts, Seminyak

Bali is only a two hour direct flight from Brunei and is regarded as a great holiday destination for their relaxing beautiful beaches and mouth watering cuisines. I had the pleasure to stay at Montigo Resorts in Seminyak, at the accessible heart of the city and very near the beach as well as the famous Potato Head! Now let’s have a look at my Montigo Resort experience shall we?

The Rooms

First of all, the rooms have personalized hand written welcome as well as welcoming food platter in your room!

The rooms are very spacious and as soon as you walk in ~~ you can feel the wow factor about how amazing it looks.

One thing I must mention is that this is seriously one of the best beds I’ve slept on! They are soooo soft and fluffy ~~ yet firm enough to support a heavy 100kg man like me ~~ the blankets/duvets and the pillows are ultra soft and comfy as if the whole bed is hugging you to sleep! This is actually a special signature of Montigo resort and everything is custom made to achieve this marshmallow bed result! One big danger of this bed is that once you lie on it ~~ you don’t even want to get up! Soooo comfortable!

I could seriously just lie on bed and watch TV whole day ~~ that’s how comfortable it is ~~~ ahhhh ~~~ the gravity is so much heavier in this room ~~ *cough*

The cool thing about my room is that you have your own garden patio! I read from other bloggers that if you have extra cash to splurge, you can arrange a live cooking session here at your very own garden patio! But for me, this is a great place to lounge around when you wake up in the morning and order room service ~~ and read a book ~~

Ahhhhh what a spacious bathroom and of course – the big bath tub is calling my name already!

Montigo Resorts spare no expense when it comes to pampering the guests ~~ and you can see the prestigious BVLGARI brand as their choice of toiletries! POSH!

Now that’s how you shower in style! High quality branded toiletries!

Gzul and I had the pleasure to have a look at the other rooms and this one looks very lush as well! This is perfect for a honeymoon ~~

Pools

Montigo Resort has 3 pools at the moment ~~ this lovely one at the back at the hotel, one in front of the gym (still in construction) and ~~

This pool right next to the bar and restaurant Tiigo, where you can have poolside drinks and nibbles ordered from Tiigo ~

The Montigo Spa

The Montigo Spa is a relaxation paradise to further enhance your stay in Bali.

The ingredients for massages and spa treatments are home made from natural fresh ingredients to ensure your massages are of the highest quality ~~

I didn’t take pictures of my massage and spa treatment but I have to say they are very professional and know what they were doing! A very relaxing treatment for me and Gzul!

We had a pedicure after our spa treatment ~~ ahhhh such a good way to relax and feel pampered! You can see that we are sooo ready to sleep! LOL

The Tilo Kid’s Club: Let your kids have fun!

Montigo Resort is designed even for people with kids in mind ~~ while you are having your spa ~~ they have a Tilo Kid’s club to babysit your kids while you are relaxing!

They have professionals who will look after your kids while they engage in many activities the club has to offer!

There’s plenty of activities and they are categorized according to age groups to ensure a safe conducive environment for your children!

The multimedia room where kids can enjoy watching movies and TV programs.

There’s also food for the kids ~~~ yum yum ~~~

They have a schedule as well ~~ very professional and I think you get two hours free of charge for your kids when you stay at Montigo Resort and the additional hours are not that expensive as well ~~ extremely cheap compared to western childcare expenses! You can basically have a peace of mind that your kids are well taken cared of while you enjoy your well deserved rest! A big plus for parents who are bringing their kids to Bali!

The Montigo Store

Montigo Resort also has their own store where you can buy souvenirs and even their cute mascot Tilo!

Great food at Tiigo Restaurant

The Tiigo restaurant serves a good mix of International cuisine as well as local Balinese favourites. Chef Ali brings with him more than 27 years of culinary experience, working together with global culinary chefs including Michelin-starred Austrian Chef Johann Lafer, a key player in Germany’s culinary television shows.

“Being an advocate of natural produce, I enjoy creating food inspired from different countries which are rooted in culture, taste and flavours. With more affluent diners over the years, the door of opportunity also opens for me to offer unique and gastronomic delights using only the reshest local produce and to create food alchemy to cater to the taste of discerning epicureans” says Chef Ali.

They also serve Japanese cuisine ~~

Hmmm sushi rolls anyone?

When in Bali, one must check out the three signature Balinese food: Ayam Betutu, Bebek Penyet and Babi Guling. The most awesome part is enjoying all three in one restaurant! The Balinese Trio from Tiigo is really delicious and the best part is that having these in a comfortable restaurant setting and no worries about the hygiene during food preparation!

The Babi Guling from Tiigo is served with two gorgeous lemongrass sates and the skin is sooo crispy it’s like eating crackers! Seriously delicious and you might be surprised that some might regard this as even better than some of the famous babi guling spots in Bali!

The Ayam Bertutu is a Balinese dish in which chicken is roasted or braised with a special betutu spice mix! The result is a delicious tender chicken with strong flavours from the betutu spices!

The Bebek Goreng is basically marinated duck that is fried till crispy then served with a trio of different spicy sambals! Ooooh yess!!

Let’s not forget to match these dishes with some great cocktails or mocktails expertly done by their mixologist! They take pride in using the freshest sourced ingredients available for their drinks

A cocktail that uses beetroot as one of the main ingredients! This is astoundingly delicious!

Another refreshing cocktail which is their Ginger Elixir! A good mix of rum, lime, ginger lemonade and lychee!

If you are detoxing ~~ try their alcohol free mocktails! This is the Detox ++ drink ~~ Apple, cucumber, parsley and spinach! Progressive foodie drink!

Another special mocktail that makes use of fresh rosemary to trickle your senses! Ahhhhh ~~

For dinner, we had of their gorgeously presented cold appetizer ~~ Hiyashi Somen on Ice ~~ a very Japanese start to our meal ~~ cold dipping noodles presented on an ice brick ~~

Our 2nd dish of the night looks like a cocktail or mousse but it’s actually a prawn dish with lobster bisque! Soo delicious and the prawns are perfectly cooked to a lovely texture!

A beautifully presented palate cleanser ~~ lemon rosemary sorbet ~~

Potato Leeks and Crabmeat soup ~~~

Now that’s what I call a seafood platter! King prawns, scallops and salmon perfectly seared with a lovely hint of smokiness!

Our happy ending of the night! The dessert platter! It was quite dark and I didn’t bring enough lighting so I’ll show you separately taken pics of each dessert component in this platter!

A picture of the bar using my phone. The prices at Tiigo are actually very reasonable for the quality of the food and ambience and I’ll highly recommend it to anyone who visits Bali!
