Kota Kinabalu Food Guide For Tourists – walking distance from Centrepoint: Yee Fung Laksa

For this post let’s have a look at a good place for breakfast along Gaya Street – Yee Fung Kopitiam – the best laksa in KK. This restaurant is within walking distance and suitable for tourists. Specially for those who are staying around Imperial Boutech Hotel, Warisan Square, Centrepoint, Suria Sabah or Gaya Street areas

Yee Fung Kopitiam serves only a few signature dishes but they are all pretty good and locals flock over here for breakfast daily.

It’s usually packed so be prepared to wait if you can’t find any tables. Thankfully the service here is pretty fast – and people generally don’t wait too long for the food.

Their dishes are listed on their walls so it’s pretty easy to order.

I’m a fan of their straight forward curry laksa – which isn’t too spicy and you can simply add more of the sambal on the side if you want a higher heat rating. For me – a squeeze of lime is all it takes for me.

They also serve pretty good claypot chicken rice – served with a soft sunny side up egg – what a breakfast! Simply eggporn! This is only Rm7. Quite a bargain.

They also serve other popular KK dishes such as KoloMee and Ngiu Chap which are pretty good as well if you fancy other items. Be sure to try out their array of drinks – their lemon teh ping' is pretty good.
