The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf has opened a new branch at Mata Mata Supasave and this promises to be one of the great places to chillax for Brunei! You got the outdoor section for those who like the open air al fresco concept
Inside Рyou got a pretty spacious area Рwith furniture of different heights to give it a very modern American caf̩ feel ~~
I like the display of their coffee beans and tea leaves for you to browse ~~ I am a very big big fan of their tea leaves and drink them pretty often at home.
Now what makes this branch so special? Well – for starters – this branch has a dedicated hot kitchen and chef to prepare hot meals for you! If you’re a fan of their food in the Seria branch – you will be happy to hear the good news!

Their pastas are very American Italian – not the typical Italian style ones but I’m loving this Americanized carbonara ~~ creamy delicious plate of carbs! Come to papa!
You can never so no to a comforting plate of creamy meaty saucy lasagna ~~~
Pesto lovers rejoice! They have pesto pasta here! Ahh ~ the mixture of garlic, herbs and olive oil ~~
Simple and down to earth seafood Aglio Olio ~~~ mmmmmmm ~~
For those who want more punch to their pasta ~~ go for the Arrabiata pasta ~~
Reedah Anak Brunei who has went to the Seria branch before asked if they have their famous Beef Stroganoff pasta ~ and yes they have it here!! OMG! If you love your beef ~~ this is your pasta! *slurps* Loving the sauce for this dish and the seared beef ~~ MMMmmmmmm!
Last but not least is this bowtie pasta – served with mushroom and asparagus! Light creamy and yummy! I actually enjoyed this very very much! Thumbs up!!!

Cooking tips: How to wrap Bah Zhang or Chinese Dumplings at Fun Bee Park
The Bah Zhang Season is upon us and most of us will be blessed with Bah Zhang to eat. Bah Zhangs are basically Chinese style rice dumplings wrapped with bamboo leaves. I was really excited to be invited to a Bah Zhang gathering where home chefs bring in some of their best home made Bah Zhang from their home kitchen family handed down recipes! wOO hOO!
There are different types of Bah Zhang depending on which province you originated from.
Some are stuffed with stewed pork belly with mushrooms and salted yolk, some just with peanuts, some with red bean paste, and some even with spiced curry.
The type of rice is generally sticky rice but I’ve seen some even made with black glutinous rice or wild kampung rice, which gives a more interesting colour contrast.
They come in all shapes and sizes depending on how you wrap them!

One of my favourites at the Bah Zhang event is the Nyonya Bah Zhang with blue flower dye!
Being a multicultural event – there’s no pork in the bah zhangs we have today – halal versions ~~
Everyone was happy to bring their dumplings to share ~ we even had a dumpling wrapping competition with attractive prizes!
Cecilia was so generous to give us some jumbo tiger prawns to bring home ~ look forward to a prawns sharing session in the future!
Generally, especially amongst the younger generation, we don’t really learn how to wrap a proper Chinese Dumpling. We only know how to buy and eat – and the art of family members gathering together to wrap dumplings as a family is a rarity. Here’s a video I snapped while at a Bah Zhang event where we get to eat different types of dumplings from different cultures! This video is in Mandarin language, and gives you tips on how to wrap bah zhang. On Wednesday night, members of the press, along with lucky winners from the public who participated in Marrybrown competitions got together to enjoy a screening of Jurassic World! Needless to say – the movie was adrenaline charged and action packed till the end!
